Terms of Service
Last updated: August 9, 2026
The short version
Addiction Boards is a study tool for board-exam preparation. It is not medical advice and does not guarantee exam results. Paid plans cost $29 per month or $199 per year and renew automatically until you cancel. New users get one 7-day free trial with no card required. You may cancel anytime on the Billing page in the app; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current trial or paid billing period. Use the content only for your own study. Do not copy or resell it, and do not enter patient information anywhere in the Service.
The sections below provide the details. If this summary conflicts with them, the detailed terms control.
1. Who we are and what you're agreeing to
Addiction Boards (the "Service", at addictionboards.com) is operated by John H. Jung, MD, MS, a sole proprietor based in New York ("we", "us", "our"). Creating an account alone does not accept these Terms. These Terms govern access to and use of the Service. The pricing page presents links to these Terms and the Privacy Policy before subscription and free-trial actions. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not start a trial, subscribe, or use protected Service content.

2. Who may use the Service
You must be at least 18 years old. The Service is intended for medical professionals and trainees preparing for board examinations. You are responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. One account per person; your account and any free trial are for you and may not be shared, transferred, or sold.
3. What the Service is and is not
The Service provides practice questions, explanations, and progress tracking for addiction-medicine board-exam preparation.
The Service is not medical advice
Content is for exam preparation and general education only. It is not medical, clinical, or healthcare advice, and it is not a substitute for professional clinical judgment. Do not use it to diagnose, treat, or make decisions about any patient. Medical knowledge changes, so verify anything you rely on clinically against current guidelines and primary sources. Using the Service does not create a clinician-patient relationship or any kind of professional-client relationship.
No guarantee of results
We do not promise that using the Service will improve your score or that you will pass any examination. Exam outcomes depend on many factors outside our control.
Not affiliated with any board
The Service is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any medical board, certification body, or examination provider.
4. Subscriptions, free trial, and billing
These are the material terms of the automatic-renewal offer. The plan, price, billing frequency, automatic renewal, free-trial mechanics, and cancellation method also appear at the point of purchase before any billing information is collected.
- Plans and prices. Pro Monthly: $29 per month. Pro Annual: $199 per year. Prices are in U.S. dollars.
- Automatic renewal. Each plan renews automatically at the end of every billing period: monthly for Pro Monthly and yearly for Pro Annual. Your payment method is charged at each renewal until you cancel.
- Free trial. New accounts receive a 7-day free trial. Each person may receive only one. No payment method is required to start it. Creating another account, or deleting and re-creating an account, to get another free trial is not permitted and breaches Section 2. If you do not add a payment method before the trial ends, the trial ends and you are not charged. Nothing further happens. If you add one, your paid plan starts when the trial ends and renews automatically as described above.
- How to cancel. Cancel anytime from the Billing page in the app, which opens our payment processor's (Stripe's) billing portal, or by emailing support@addictionboards.com from the email address on your account (so we can verify it's you). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current trial or paid billing period; you keep access until then. Cancelling online is as easy as subscribing.
- Refunds. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable; cancelling stops future charges and you retain access for the period already paid.
- Failed payments. If a renewal charge fails, we may retry it and give you a grace period to update your payment method on the Billing page. If payment is not resolved, access ends when the grace period ends or the subscription is canceled for non-payment, whichever comes first.
- Renewal and trial reminders. Where a reminder or renewal notice is required by the law of your state (for example, annual-plan renewal notices), we will send it to the email on your account. Billing receipts and subscription emails may be sent by Stripe on our behalf.
- Price and term changes. We will notify you of any material change to your subscription terms, including a price increase, by email at least 7 calendar days (and at least 5 business days) and no more than 30 days before the renewal at which the change takes effect for you; the change applies from that renewal. The notice will explain how to cancel: use the Billing page in the app or email support@addictionboards.com. Before charging an increased price, we will obtain your affirmative consent. If you do not consent, we will not renew your subscription at the increased price. You may also cancel before that renewal.
- Taxes. Prices do not include any sales or similar taxes that we are required to collect, which will be shown at checkout if applicable.
5. Your license to the content and its limits
While your subscription or trial is active, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service and its content for your own exam preparation.
You may not:
- copy, scrape, download in bulk, or reproduce questions, explanations, or other content;
- share, publish, resell, or distribute content or your account;
- use the content to build, train, or seed another product, question bank, dataset, or machine-learning model;
- reverse-engineer or probe the Service except as the law permits notwithstanding this clause; or
- interfere with the Service's operation or security, including by automated access, rate-limit evasion, or vulnerability exploitation (good-faith security research reported to support@addictionboards.com is welcome).
All content, software, and branding remain our property or that of our licensors. No rights are granted except the license above.
6. What you send us
- Feedback on questions (ratings, reports, comments) may be used by us without restriction or compensation to fix and improve the content. You represent that your feedback is your own and does not include anyone else's confidential information.
- Do not submit patient information. Never enter patient details, protected health information, or any personally identifying clinical information anywhere in the Service, including free-text feedback. The Service is not designed or permitted to receive it.
- Support email is handled per the Privacy Policy.
7. Changes to the Service
We may add, change, or remove content and features at any time, and we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. If we discontinue the Service entirely while you have an active paid subscription, we will refund the unused portion of the period you paid for. This is an exception to the no-refund rule above. Section 8 contains one more exception for termination without cause.
8. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time; deletion is handled per the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms (for example, content scraping, account sharing, or abuse of the Service), if required by law, or to protect the Service or its users. If we terminate for your breach, no refund is due; if we terminate without cause, we will refund the unused portion of your paid period. Sections 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, and 11 survive termination.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that content is current, complete, or error-free. Medical and examination content in particular changes over time. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law: we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or professional or examination outcomes; and our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim (or $50 if you have paid nothing). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for our gross negligence, willful misconduct, or fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing any claim, contact us at support@addictionboards.com and allow 30 days for informal resolution. Most issues can be resolved that way. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in New York, New York, and both parties consent to their jurisdiction. Despite the preceding sentence, either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court where it qualifies. Nothing in these Terms waives a right that your home state's consumer-protection law does not allow to be waived.
12. Copyright complaints
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, email support@addictionboards.com with: identification of the work and the allegedly infringing material, its location on the Service, your contact information, a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized, a statement under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate and you are authorized to act, and your physical or electronic signature. We will review and respond, including removal where appropriate.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes, we will give notice by email before the change takes effect; we may also post notice in the app. For material changes to subscription terms, the Section 4 notice window applies. The updated Terms apply from the stated effective date; continued use after that date is acceptance. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
14. Everything else
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a transfer of the business, subject to notice and applicable law. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
